Rushworths is a family business with connections to the furniture making industry that date back over 50 years. Founded by Geoff Rushworth and his son Paul, the company has been producing handcrafted individually designed pieces of furniture since 1981 in their workshop in Shrewsbury in the heart of England. Paul is himself a fully qualified cabinetmaker and is closely involved with every piece that is produced.
Our workshop uses traditional, centuries old methods to produce handcrafted furniture, either from our standard range or specifically tailored to meet an individual requirement. Our experienced team is happy to listen to your needs and suggest how best we can fulfil them.
Technology has changed over the years and we do use modern glues which give us longer lasting and safer joints, but other things never change, for example the thickness of our refectory table tops is the same today as tables made in the 15th century.
We do recognise that our range of products may not satisfy everyone’s needs so we also have access to the ranges of a number of carefully selected suppliers, offering quality products that compliment our own range.
We are often asked if we can restore or repair an old or cherished piece which has suffered some damage. Whilst we cannot guarantee that we shall be able to help you, let’s just say that we have yet to come across a problem that we couldn’t handle.
A little bit of our history:
1981 – Rushworths Furniture Limited started by Geoff Rushworth and his son Paul in a small shop and workshop in Greenfields, Shrewsbury
1984 – Moved to larger shop and workshop premises in Frankwell
1986 – The company needed more space so moved the workshop to Abbey Forgate, making a larger showroom in Frankwell
1990 – Again needed more space, so relocated to present premises with everything under one roof at Ennerdale Road, Harlescott
1995 – More showroom space was needed so a complete mezzanine showroom floor was fitted, giving a 10,000 sq ft of showroom space
1998 – Acquired adjacent unit to expand the workshop
2011 – The company celebrates its 30th birthday
